Kenyan general election, 1992
General elections were held in Kenya on 29 December 1992. Although they were the first multi-party elections since independence, the results were marred by allegations of ballot-box stuffing, and targeted ethnic violence in the Rift Valley Province. Human Rights Watch accused several prominent Kenyan politicians, including President Daniel arap Moi and then-VP George Saitoti of inciting and coordinating the violence.[1] They were also the first elections to feature a ballot for the post of President, who had previously been elected by the National Assembly. Voter turnout was 69.4%.[2][3]
